The Magic of Fashion in Mariacka Street

moda

"I was moved, touched and inspired" - this is how Dorota Wróblewska, a Polish fashion specialist, summed up the fashion show by Magdalena Arłukiewicz and Bożena Kamińska which took place on Sunday, as a part of the event "The Mysteries of Mariacka Street".

Limited facilities gave the idea of a very interesting form of the show: the models first stood on porches, then they started walking down Mariacka Street, as if it were catwalk. This closeness and the possibility to have a closer look at the details of the outfit, jewellery and make-up made the show even more attractive. The presentation was complemented by harp music played by Anna Faber.

"Everything will be new" – announced Bożena Kamińska, a jewellery designer from Sopot, before the show. Indeed, decorations attracting attention with a mixture of their impressive sizes and innovative ideas where created especially for the evening. Colourful and transparent glass from Murano, huge amber globes, a decoupage angel, pieces of amber closed in transparent pipes creating a visual effect similar to popular liquor "Goldwasser" – such a jewellery combination has never been created before.

Handmade dresses, each dedicated to women who are not afraid to stand out and each presenting a variety of images of elegance, were designed in Magdalena Arłukiewicz's studio. A fantastic effect is achieved by a special technique used by the designer – weaving silk with single or multi colour felt. Woollen inserts were given various, surprising forms, decorating not only the outfits, but also the hairdos of the models. Despite the opulence of colours and forms there was a lot of space left for jewellery, which perfectly completed the whole.

Bożena Kamińska had announced that it would be very feminine. And it truly was!
